The local jazz station played Frank Sinatra's version yesterday morning as I was scrambling an egg for my little boy, and it served only to fill me with longing for this exquisite one that I love so much. As soon as I got home from the preschool drop-off I started listening to it repeatedly- would anyone care to join me?
Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong - Learnin' The Blues
That last seventy seconds or so, once Ella comes back in just past the six-minute mark, I think it's close to perfect.
I first heard this back when I was a working girl. A woefully understaffed company I dealt with from time to time had this CD as hold music! Every time I called them my tiny office was filled with long stretches of Ella & Louis magic, which is much much more memorable than decent customer service would have been.

Perfect egg scramblin' music; that sounds like my kind of breakfast show x

It's wonderful, but a public station and disgracefully underfunded so no telling how much longer the party will last.

I'm in. Do the presenters wear turtle next dark tops and smoke french cigarettes in such a way that you can tell even though they're on the radio?

Or perhaps look like this?

Smooth.

i must admit that in my youth, i neglected ella in favor of sarah vaughan and billie holiday. as an adult, however, i find she has the loveliest, smoothest technique. when you combine it with louis, it's simply perfection. :)

DavyH & Adam- Very smooth :)). The presenters are all jazz musicians themselves which really adds to the whole thing. But the morning one is a lady so you may have to adjust your visual ever so slightly.
Marcy & JC- I went in a slightly different order: Billie (had a gorgeous double album of her when I was in high school but it got lost in one of my moves), then Ella, then Sarah and I still don't have very much by Sarah. There's always more great music to discover, isn't there?.
